Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan
The Queensland Government's Energy and Jobs Plan is a strategy to boost the state's economy and create jobs while transitioning to a cleaner energy future. The plan includes a $2 billion investment over 10 years to support new renewable energy projects and infrastructure.
The key components of the Energy and Jobs Plan include:
Investing in renewable energy: The plan includes a $1 billion Renewable Energy Fund to support large-scale renewable energy projects, as well as a $500 million Equity Fund to attract private sector investment in renewable energy projects. The government also plans to expand the existing Solar for Schools program and invest in other renewable energy initiatives.
Supporting traditional industries: The plan includes measures to support traditional industries such as gas and coal, including a $5 million fund to help gas explorers find new reserves and a $5 million fund to support research into low-emissions coal technologies.
Creating new jobs: The plan aims to create 15,000 jobs over the next decade, including jobs in the renewable energy sector, as well as in manufacturing and other industries that support the transition to clean energy.
Reducing emissions: The plan includes a target to reduce Queensland's emissions by 30% below 2005 levels by 2030, and to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. To achieve this, the government will implement a range of measures, including investing in renewable energy, increasing energy efficiency, and supporting the use of electric vehicles.
Overall, the Queensland Government's Energy and Jobs Plan is a comprehensive strategy that aims to support both the state's economy and its transition to a cleaner energy future.
